Hyroad Energy Joins the H2MI Steering Committee

Hyroad Energy's Rob Kelly, Vice President of Business Development, has been invited onto the Steering Committee of the Hydrogen Mobility Initiative (H2MI), the working group building out a hydrogen mobility network across the Pacific Northwest.

H2MI is convened by the Consortium for Hydrogen and Renewably Generated E-fuels (CHARGE), in partnership with the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub (PNWH2). Its members span the hydrogen value chain, working together to coordinate fleet deployment and refueling infrastructure across Washington and Oregon, with an eye toward connecting that network to similar efforts already underway in California, Texas, and British Columbia.

Rob has been an active participant in H2MI's working sessions for several months. The Steering Committee seat formalizes that role, giving Hyroad a voice in shaping how the region prioritizes and funds hydrogen infrastructure going forward. It's also a chance to bring some momentum with us: we're excited about the opportunity to help establish Washington as a hydrogen trucking market, building on the fueling and trucking services we've already stood up in California and are now bringing online in Texas.

That timing matters. Washington recently opened applications for WAZIP, the state's zero-emission infrastructure program, and Class 8 funding was claimed almost immediately - an early signal of the demand already sitting behind heavy-duty hydrogen trucks. Class 8 vehicles make up a small share of vehicles on the road but account for an outsized share of the harmful emissions, which is exactly why getting them fueled and running matters so much for air quality.

For Hyroad, a seat on the committee means more than participation: It's a chance to help steer resources toward the heavy-duty use cases where hydrogen has the clearest path to impact, and to build relationships with other companies establishing hydrogen infrastructure across the Pacific Northwest and into British Columbia.

Hyroad brings a specific vantage point to the table: operating experience running hydrogen fuel cell trucks day to day, and the fuel supply, fueling operations, and cost-of-ownership data that comes with it. That perspective is still rare in rooms like this one, and it's exactly the kind of insight H2MI is trying to gather as it maps the region's hydrogen future.
